Beadmaking & Furnaces

Beadmaking & Furnaces

In 1995, students of EAA (Kati Kerstna, Merle Kannus, Ave Avalo) built their first reconstruction of a traditional wood-heated furnace for beadmaking. The project continued at Palamuse Glass Hut, then at my home in Linnaaluste since 2005, with summer workshops welcoming guests from Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, and Germany.

Builders and helpers: Ants Agu, Kati Kerstna, Merle Kannus, Liisi Junolainen, Herbert Orgusaar, Kairi Orgusaar,Margit Terasmees, Katrin Kirsipuu, Kaie Vakepea an others.

In 2011 me, Kati Kerstna and Herbert Orgusaar assisted Ed van Dijk with building a beadmaking furnace at the Luxembourg Glass Festival. In 2012, a furnace was built at the Gernheim Glass Museum, Germany, by Kati Kerstna, Liisi Junolainen, me and Herbert Orgusaar.
